






Guidelines
Governing the Nomination of Candidates for The National Hall of Fame of The Bahamas

Nominations must occur by means of the completion and submission of the Official Nomination Form to the Department of Sports.

Nomination Forms must be fully completed to warrant consideration. Such forms should be as specific as possible in the presentation of evidence supporting the nomination.

Nominations shall be open to any qualified Bahamian, inclusive of a naturalized citizen, who has made a significant contribution to the development of The Bahamas through sports, as athletes, as sports administrators or as game official.

Nominees must have retired from all active competition for a minimum period of twenty years.

Nominees must be thirty-five years of age or older.

Nominees must have made significant or outstanding contributing to the development of his or hers port for a minimum sustained and continuous period of ten years, as athlete, coach, and game official or sports administrator.

Nominees must have represented The Bahamas in international competition over the sustained period of ten years or have excelled at the local level over the same time period.

Candidates may be persons whose participation and contributions might have been terminated inside the stipulated ten-year period, either by circumstances beyond his/her controls, such as an incapacitating illness or injury, or that such contribution would have been so monumental that it warrants exceptional consideration in spite of its failure to meet the required time span.

Naturalized Bahamians are eligible for nomination provided their contribution directly benefitted his/her sport locally and at an international level.

Person to be nominated must have demonstrated exemplary personal deportment throughout the course of his/her sporting career, never having been sanctioned for the contravention of the rules, regulations and policies of the association or federation which governed his/her sporting discipline.

Persons eligible for nomination must not have been convicted of any capital offences in any local or foreign jurisdiction.

The Honourable Minister of Sports will reserve the right to set aside any or all nominations deemed to be inappropriate. He shall also retain the right to cause new nominations to be made once he is satisfied that the list of persons nominated would be significantly enhanced by the exercise of this right.
